Philip L Thames was initiated in 1988 at Theta-Gamma (Midwestern State) where he served as Grand Treasurer, Grand Procurator, and Grand Master. Brother Thames was of Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President, and President of the Interfraternity Council and Senator and President Pro-Tempore of Student Government. Phil received the John G. Tower Man of the Year Award from Theta-Gamma and a Scholarship/Leadership Award before graduating in 1992.

Brother Thames has served the Order as Assistant Alumnus Advisor of Nu-Omicron (UTD), Alumnus Advisor of Theta-Gamma (MSU), Alumnus Advisor of Theta (TCU), Assistant District Grand Master and from 1997 until 2005 as District Grand Master in North Texas. During his service the district won District of the Year in 1996, 2000, 2001, and 2002 and the chapters represented a combined 21 FACE awards and 8 Founders’ Circle Awards.

Brother Thames served as Alcohol and Drug Education Deputy Commissioner, on the 1999 and 2003 Supreme Executive Committee Nominating Committees, and as Communications Commissioner and from 2001 to 2007 he served as the Order's Brothers In Action Commissioner.

Brother Thames has been recognized as 1997 Alumnus of the Year by Theta-Gamma Chapter, 1997 Kappa Sigma ADGM of the Year, 2000 Robert O. Good, II Alumnus of the Year of the Nu-Omicron Chapter, Kappa Sigma’s first ever William O. Waters DGM of the Year Award in 2000 and a Kappa Sigma Outstanding DGM Award in 2002.  Brother Thames has received two Special Recognition Awards and a Special Service Commendation Award from the Supreme Executive Committee for his work as Brothers In Action Commissioner.  Brother Thames is Ritually Proficient, is Jackson’s Man #1337 and a contributor to the Renaissance Campaign.

At the 65th Biennial Grand Conclave in Las Vegas, Nevada, Brother Thames was awarded the 2005 Stephen Alonzo Jackson Award and at the 66th Biennial Conclave in Miami, Florida
Brother Thames was elected Worthy Grand Treasurer for the 2007-2011 term.

Phil currently leads Dell Services' Healthcare Information Exchange solution offering. Brother Thames married his college sweetheart from Midwestern State, Michelle, herself a Chi Omega, and together they reside in Richardson, Texas with their daughters Sarah, 10 and Katie, 7.
